Scott Construction Management Ltd. has been selected as the Construction Manager to manage the construction of the new St. Vincent’s Heather long-term care home at 33rd Avenue and Heather Street in Vancouver. The selection of Scott Construction follows the extensive evaluation of four qualified responses that were received in response to a Request For Proposals that closed in January 2023.

St. Vincent’s Heather will be built on the former site of St. Vincent’s Hospital, which served the Vancouver community for 65 years. Providence Health Care, in partnership with the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Vancouver, is contributing the land to build the 13-storey, 240-bed long-term care home that will include 20 “households” accommodating 12 residents, each in single-bed rooms.

The care home will include community spaces including a community hall; chapel; café; non-denominational sacred space for worship, reflection and spiritual practice, including Indigenous ceremonial practices; creative, exercise and therapy space; hairdressing services; a 37-space child care centre; and dental and primary-care services.

Construction is expected to begin in fall 2025 and completion is expected in fall 2028.

As part of Providence Health Care, the new St. Vincent’s Heather will continue the tradition of providing for the health care needs of the community.
