Providence Health Care has been recognized as a 2024 BC Top Employer, in part because of its commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive workplace culture that prioritizes the well-being of its employees.

BC Top Employer is an annual competition organized by the editors of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This special designation recognizes the British Columbia employers that lead their industries in offering exceptional places to work.

Creating a culture of respect for all

Providence also stood out for its innovative programs and initiatives that positively impact employees and the broader community.

“Building an inclusive workplace isn’t just about diversity; it’s about creating a culture where every voice is heard, valued, and respected,” says Providence CEO Fiona Dalton. “When we embrace diversity of thought, background, and experience, we unlock innovation, foster creativity, and cultivate a sense of belonging for all.”

Richard Yerema, Executive Editor of Canada’s Top 100 Employers project, says, “Caring for your people isn’t counter to running a successful organization, it’s key. And what better proposition to attract talented individuals than to offer progressive benefits along with the ability to have a positive impact on the broader community.”

Providence’s selection as one of BC’s Top Employers for 2024 reflects its support of employees through the following:

  • Progressive time-off policies, including four weeks of starting vacation allowance, up to five paid personal days for most employees, and up to 18 paid sick days annually.
  • Retirement planning assistance services and contributions to a defined benefit pension plan to help employees plan for life after work.
  • Resources and internal programming to support positive mental health, such as self-care strategies, an annual health and wellness fair, activities during Mental Health Week, and an internal mental health and wellness toolkit.
