Joy Johnson appointed new president of Simon Fraser University (SPH)

Simon Fraser University’s Board of Governors has appointed professor Joy Johnson as the university’s next president and vice-chancellor.

Johnson, SFU’s current vice-president research and international, will take office on Sept. 1, 2020, succeeding Andrew Petter.

Joy Johnson used to be a former St. Paul’s Hospital nurse who started practicing at the beginning of the AIDS crisis in the 1980s before pivoting to a formidable academic career has been named Simon Fraser University’s new president.
