Scotiabank Feast of Fortune Gala raises over $1 million for women’s health.
GOOD FORTUNE: St Paul’s Hospital Foundation ushered in the Year of the Rat in grand style raising a record-setting $1.08 million for women’s health at both Mount St Joseph and St. Paul’s Hospital.
Steered by co-chairs Dr. Janet Kow,Shirley Zhao and Dick Vollet, Foundation CEO and President, the event drew some 550 guests to Parq Vancouver, down from previous year’s attendance amid coronavirus concerns — with some attendees choosing to stay away from large crowds and others voluntarily self-quarantining themselves. Noticeably present were bottles of hand sanitizers at each banquet table. The scare certainly did not dampen philanthropic spirits. From a lucky raffle of a $14,000 Birks Diamond Necklace to a spirited silent and live auction, patrons showed their love. As always, the biggest love of all came during the call for cash.
